Student Services
Mundijong Primary School has access to a Student Services team that works together with students, staff, parents, outside agencies and the wider community to support, liaise and assist student development and foster progress in all areas.
The Principal manages the Student Services team which includes the School Psychologist, Chaplain, and the School Nurse as well as liaising with outside agencies. They coordinate case conferences, plans effective programs in consultation with parents and teachers and ensure the effective use of available resources.
The School Psychologist provides a specialist psychological assessment, intervention and consultation service. He works at the individual, group, whole school and system levels. The School Psychologist provides support in three main areas:
- Behaviour – working with students, parents and the school to identify and change target student behaviours
- Learning – conducting assessments of students experiencing learning difficulties and/or disabilities at school to support teachers to make appropriate curriculum adjustments for students in order to enhance their learning outcomes
- Mental Health and Well-being – providing direct support for students experiencing mental health and well-being difficulties and assist the school and children to maximise the development of positive mental health and well-being
The School Chaplain is funded through the YouthCARE School Chaplaincy Program. The Chaplain provides a service that complements care offered by school staff. The chaplain assists our school community through the provision of support for the personal and social well-being of students and the school community.
The School Nurse works with students, parents and teachers to support the health needs of students. She conducts vision and hearing checks for kindergarten students and offers practical support to parents on a variety of issues including bed wetting, sleeping issues, etc.
